Netbook Reflection 2013

Having a netbook connected to the internet helped me this year by the websites our teacher gave us. I have learnt to improve more on my xtra math. My friends taught me how to make a blog comment.
I taught my friends to do current events more individually. My cousin showed me other fun websites like fun brain and cool maths games. My parents taught me fractions and decimals. Having a netbook is cool because most things are easier done digitally. The games are fun. I can get on with my work independently.

Watercare Experiment

On Monday we did an experiment with a girl named Sally from Watercare. We made a rainbow using red,blue and yellow food coloring. After that we used a tube to suck in the food coloring. Once you sucked out all of the food coloring you would tilt your straw. Then you would see your colors changing to make a different color.The colors didn't mix so quickly because we added salt to it so we could see it changing.

Analog Clock

Today I practiced on telling time on an analog clock.

Our Trip Around the Tamaki River

Our Trip Around the Tamaki River

Yesterday we went on a trip to the tamaki river. I could see lots of trees,bushes and exercise parks. It was kind of a long walk but I still kept going. After a while it was morning tea. So everybody sat down and ate at the skate park. Some people were playing soccer,touch and some people just sat down and talked. Then morning tea was over and we continued our walk.

On our walk I could also see people kite surfing and sailing boats. We kept walking and walking until it was lunch time. “yes it’s lunchtime” I said. I finally sat down and ate my lunch. I let my legs have little rest and then got up and played. I went to this park where it was just slides. But while everybody was playing suddenly it started to rain.

It started to get pretty boring because the slides started to get wet and dirty so I played at the exercise park. After that the buses were coming and we had to go.

When we were getting in the bus I started to notice that it was getting sunny. It all of a sudden got sunny when we left. When we all got back to school we went to the hall.

When we were in the hall we got ice blocks. Then we had to wait and we could sit anywhere in hall. After a few minutes we went back to our classroom. When we got back we did art. It was hometime and I was happy because when I got home I had a long rest. My legs weren’t aching anymore after my sleep. But after all It was pretty fun learning about our tamaki river.

Panmure Bridge School Party

On Saturday 9 November 2013 at  11-1.30  the C3 church threw a party at Panmure Bridge school.

It was free for everybody to come and have fun. There was Mr Whippy,hot chocolate,popcorn and many more. Events like pro wrestling,face painting and pony rides. Cook island singers did amazing performances and people gave out many lollies to kids and families. Most people got toothbrushes because there were many lollies and they didn’t want kids to go home with a sore stomach.

Decimals

What I learnt about decimals is that it is easy to change the tenths fractions into decimals.  

Our Trip Around The Tamaki River

On our trip to the Tamaki River we could see lots of boats sailing across the river.

It was also amazing how people were kite surfing.

This is something I enjoyed in this trip.

My Narrative

It was a dark windy night. Around 7:00 me and my friends went out for trick or treating. We could smell lots of candy and saw lots of halloween decoration. After we got dressed in our costumes we walked down the road to my next door neighbors and knocked on the door “trick or treat” we all said. When he opened the door he scared some of my friends because of his costume. He was dressed up as saw but after that they got over it and he gave us snickers and other chocolate bars.

I am proud of my narrative because I have good adjectives.

I am really happy about our first performance because I tried my best.

I am also pleased with our classes performance because they had lots of energy.

I think we still need to work on more big actions.

I think we can make our class performance better than last nights if we put all of our effort into it. We could also use even more energy and bigger actions.

My mum thought that last nights performance was great it was also funny.

I think my behavior was 50% good and 50% bad. But I think I could be more sensible backstage.

My definition of a Volcano

My definition of a Volcano

A vent in the earth's crust through which lava, steam, and ashes are blown out is a volcano.Volcanoes are openings in the Earth’s surface. When they are active they can let ash, gas and hot magma escape in sometimes violent and spectacular eruptions.

Volcanoes are usually located where tectonic plates meet. This is especially true for the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area around the Pacific Ocean where over 75% of the volcanoes on Earth are found.

         

I am learning about facts and information on a volcano called White    Island. It is located in 48 km (30 mi) from the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand,in the Bay of Plenty.White Island has the honour of being New Zealand’s most continuously active volcano during the last 40 years. It is an uninhabited island about 2 km in diameter and 48 km from the coast of the Bay of Plenty. It marks the northern end of the Taupo Volcanic Zone.

The Water Cycle

I had lots of fun learning about the water cycle because I had learnt more facts and information about it.

I learn that Condensation is caused by rising air which expands and cools to the point where some of the water vapour molecules cluster together quicker than they are torn apart from their thermal energy. 

Living With A Volcano

Today I read a book called Living With A Volcano. It told us facts and information about volcanoes.  I thought it was really cool reading about Mount Taranaki because it had lots of facts and information. I learnt that Mount Taranaki last erupted 250 years ago and it is a dormant volcano.

Rugby Interschools

On Wednesday the year 5,6,7 and 8 went to the rugby interschools at Pt England reserve. The boys played rugby and the girls played rippa rugby. The year 5 and 6 boys had 5 games and won 3 of them. We also went to the finals and we became second out of the schools.

My Holiday Recount

In my holiday I went shopping with my mum and my three sisters. We went to Pak n Save to go shopping and my mum had let us pick whatever we would like to eat for the week. My sisters and I were so excited to pick. My  two little sisters went to the  junk food area and got lots of chocolate. While me and my older sister Kahlista went to the breakfast area. When we were done picking we went to the cash register to buy the food. After that we went back home and we were all so exhausted that we all had a nap.         

The next day my family went to the Hoyts at Sylvia park and watched Escape from Planet Earth. We had popcorn, coke and ice cream to eat while the movie was on. The movie was about these two alien brothers one was cool and he went places to fight crime the other brother told him things to do through a little speaker in his ear. My family enjoyed the movie and when it was done we were just about to walk out the door and we saw Walter from a tv show called Sticky TV. We never even noticed him and he was watching the same movie as us.

After that we went back home and had a nice long rest. I almost slept in all day. We were having a normal day like the usual. After my mum cooked dinner we watched a movie then my aunt called my mum to see if she wanted to come over and my mum said yes. Next we put on our warm clothes and went. When we got there I played Call of Duty black ops with my cousin. Then we played card tricks and watched Nickelodeon. After that we started to get hungry so we went to the shop and bought some snacks for us. Then we went home to go to sleep.

The next day I got up and brushed my teeth and washed my face. Next I had weetbix for breakfast. Then we headed off to go to the park. Then we went back home to eat some snacks. After that my mum asked us if we wanted to go to Chipmunks to play. We all shouted out yes! then we went. When we got there I went to go to the sumo

wrestling area while my sisters went to the big slide. In sumo wrestling I versed lots of people and I won all of them. Then I went to this area were it was like a bouncy castle around it and you had to stand on it. Then there were sticks and you were supposed to push them off with the stick.

I felt so happy because we had lots of fun over the holidays. I think were going to have better plans next holidays. I can’t wait for the next holidays.

Swimming

This is our swimming group in the photo it's me Tai and Sebastian. Our group is learning about backstroke freestyle and breathing position. I need more practice on breathing position but I think im getting better each time we go swimming.

Howick Historical Village

Panmure bridge school went on a trip to a place called Howick Historical Village. It was a village of the olden days. When we got there we went to a classroom and the lady from the village talked about what kind of toys in the olden days were made of. The toys were mostly made of wood. I learnt that in the olden days student worked on slate board and didn't write with pencils.

Pancake Rocks

Today I used google maps and went onto the west coast of New Zealand to show where Punakaiki  rocks were. I learnt that Punkaiki rocks were made 30 million years ago.

Geo Board

This is my geo board my partner is Sebastian and we made a square. The times table we used was 3 x 3 which equalled 9. 

Types of landforms

Here is my popplet. Today we went on popplet and wrote about landforms. I learnt that around 70% of the earth's surface is covered by oceans.

Math Magician

This is a new game that I started playing. My best score was one hundred 

and I completed it in 34 seconds. In this game I learned about my 9 times table.

Duffy Theatre

Today the whole of Panmure Bridge school went to Duffy theatre. They did a play for us a to show us about how it's cool and important to know how to read. The characters that were in the play was Duffy,Scruffy,Afi and Vordsharts. The play was about Duffy losses his words to Vordsharts. They had to win his challenge and Duffy would get his words back. 

Floor planner

This is my floor planner showing a future classroom and I think that it's good to have a swimming pool because it's to good teach kids how to swim.I think that it's good we should have bean bags and comfortable couches so people feel comfortable learning.I also think that it's good kids can sit where ever they like because kids can get bored sitting at their desks everyday.

Speech Reflection

How well did I do with my speech?

My speech topic was rugby should be allowed at PBS.

My voice was loud enough.

I stood still and relaxed.

The hardest part of speeches was to make more eye contact.

I am proud of me doing a loud and clear voice.  

Next time I will do more eye contact.

Technology in Education

This is my technology in Education timeline. I learnt that pencils were used in 1900 and hand held calculators were made in 1970.

We have been playing a game called penalty shootout. We had sentence and words we had to pick a connective word to go in the sentence to make it make sense if you got the sentence right you would get a chance at making a goal I got all of them  right and I made all of my goals.

  I agree on this contract because if people continue downloading games,music and photos it could damage their netbook and it would cost 70$ to fix it and lots of parents wouldn't be that happy paying for what their child has done.

Des Hunt visit

Des Hunt

Des Hunt came to visit us today.He used chemistry and physics to show us how to write a story an easier way.He also showed us some amazing science tricks and talked to us about what he wanted to be when he grows up.
